Slowly but surely, emissions control requirements are requiring more and more diesel engine generators to incorporate catalytic converters, particulate filters (PF) or both.

Particulate Filter– Catalytic Converter Design Checklist

· Will the PF or Catalytic converter reduce the emission below the mandated standard?

· Will the added PF/CC pressure drop exceed the engine manufacturer’s maximum?

· Is the PF/CC properly insulated to ensure that nominal operating temperature is maintained?

· Has the PF/CC been properly placed within the exhaust line-up to ensure adequate regeneration temp?

· Has the PF/CC design allowed for element replacement and/or maintenance?

· Has instrumentation or sensing ports been included to easily confirm that the PF/CC is operating within design limits?
